“Persiguiendo Mavericks” relata la auténtica historia del fenómeno del surf Jay Moriarity (Jonny Weston). Cuando, a la edad de 15 años, Jay descubre que las míticas olas conocidas como Mavericks, unas de las más descomunales del planeta, se aproximan a su hogar de Santa Cruz, lugar donde van a romper, consigue la ayuda del legendario Frosty Hesson (Gerard Butler) para que le entrene y así poder surfearlas. Cuando Jay y Frosty se embarcan en el empeño de lograr lo imposible, va surgiendo entre ellos una singular amistad que transforma sus vidas; y su intento de dominar a las Mavericks se convierte en algo que rebasa la práctica del surf. “Persiguiendo Mavericks” fue realizada con la ayuda de algunas de las figuras de más renombre del mundo del surf y muestra algunas de las imágenes de olas más alucinantes jamás captadas por una cámara cinematográfica.
